Zabbix 2.0 with zabbix-java-gateway

Monitoring it the one of the important tools you’d must have running your servers. There are lots of monitoring tools among them zabbix, cacti, munin, etc. I’m going to show you the way you can bootstrap zabbix. The latest version you can find in your ports is 2.0.8.

First off all keep your ports up to date!
You will need:

Lets start:
I’m going to install zabbix with: CURL, FPING, IPMI, JAVAGW (more traps will be described later, after install), SSH, MYSQL

Zabbix-server:

During the installation of Zabbix-server additional packages will be installed including Java.

Zabbix-agent:

After installation start/stop scripts will be created in /usr/local/etc/rc.d directory.

zabbix-java-gateway:

By default zabbix-java-gateway uses 10052 port, but it is not but it’s not registered in IANA.

WARNING! zabbix-java-gateway wont’t start with the zabbix-server! It has its own start/stop scripts.

To start/stop zabbix-java-gateway you should enter:

There start.sh, shutdown.sh and settings.sh placed.
File setting.sh – just a part of /usr/local/etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf file. Do not edit it. Make all configs in /usr/local/etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf file!

after zabbix-javalgateway was started you’d find port 10052 opend:
